Australian Bachelor Degrees

Australia is the third choice of study destination in the world after the USA and the UK, quite an impressive statistic considering the small size of the population. The quality of Australian universities is evident by the fact that seven out of a total of forty-one appear the top 100 of the QS World University Ranking table.

How long does it take to complete a bachelor degree in Australia?

Bachelors take a minimum of three years to complete. A further year of research is required to receive the award of Bachelor with Honours. A Bachelor with Honours is required if you plan to go on to Postgraduate study.
Certain professional subjects such as Law will combine the three years bachelor degree with the Honours year making a four year program of study.

Are Bachelor degrees different to those in the USA and the UK?

Yes, Australian Bachelor degrees are different as typically in the USA, the first year consists of general education courses but in Australia, courses related to your major are started in first year.
In the UK, a bachelor degree with honours can be awarded after three years of study depending on grades and credits passed. A bachelors with honours in Australia means one more year of research and nothing to do with grades and course credits.
